LaCount Anderson was reared in the

“low country” of Georgia.   His

hometown of Savannah served as

inspiration to him during his

impressionable childhood and

through his 20’s. He remembers, as

an 11 year old boy, visitors came to his

home to talk about a piece of art he

had produced; desiring to publish the

artwork in a book.  This began a long

love affair with the arts. Following a

tour in the US Navy, LaCount moved

to North Carolina for his formal

education at Gardner-Webb

University, Boiling Springs, NC

and then his graduate training

at southeastern Baptist Theological

Seminary in Wake Forest,

NC.  Shortly following graduation

he married Anna Daniels Anderson

of Wilson, NC.  The couple has just

celebrated their 39th wedding

anniversary.  They have one child,

Leah Anderson Reed, who resides

with her husband,

Chad Reed, in Wake Forest, NC.

Trained to do ministry, LaCount has

utilized art in teaching children,

as well as, all age groups in learning

to express themselves in art.

He enjoys the Zentangle Method of

producing art as it is also a means to

providing quiet moments in

meditation.

It is interesting to note that LaCount

Anderson is also the founding pastor

of First Baptist Church Smithton,

located just west of Belhaven. He

loves the coastal life and spends as

much time as possible producing art

and enjoying the beauty of nature

located all around us. Currently

LaCount and Anna live in Rocky

Mount, NC where they

do mission work for the

Cooperative Baptist Fellowship.
