Jodi Benoy Wahab was born in 1971 and grew up in the Yadkin Valley area of North Carolina. She calls Albemarle her home.
From her early years, Jodi had a fondness for color and drawing. This was only natural since both her mother and grandmother also had a talent and passion for art. Early in her teenage years, she discovered a love for oil painting that continues to this day.
After graduating from Albemarle High School in 1989, Jodi took time to concentrate on her art but ultimately her family life took precedence. Being a mother and raising children didn’t leave as much time for art, but somehow Jodi managed to find time.
She has studied art in Florence, Italy and spent a semester at the Académie d’Arte. Jodi has been inspired by the High Renaissance masters Michelangelo, Leonardo da Vinci and Raphael. This inspired her with a desire to learn how to paint frescos, which Jodi loves as much as her oil paintings.
Not to limit her motivation to the Renaissance, Jodi also finds innovation and inspiration with the art of Rembrandt, Vermeer, Grimshaw, and Van Gogh.
Art is and will always tug the heartstrings of Jodi’s soul. She’s at her best with a brush in her hand.
She is a loving mother to two children, Chris and Samantha.
